Spiders….my point exactly

So last night I was cutting up broccoli to roast for supper and as I sliced off a floret out popped this dude…

For anyone not familiar, this would be a black widow.  Had this happened a few years ago, I would have peed my pants and started to hyperventilate.  This dude falling from very near my hand into my roasting pan merely made me shiver….and grab a camera.

And then Robert and I debated over whether or not it was actually a black widow because it had red spots on it’s back and we couldn’t see it’s belly once I squished it.  Turns out, according to info on the www, the northern black widow has red spots on it’s back.  ~shiver~
